Dr. Swayne Verified

Dr. David Swayne is an associate editor of Veterinary Pathology, where he covers avian animals and poultry. He is the director of the Southeast Poultry Research Laboratory (SEPRL) of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Agricultural Research Service (ARS) in Georgia. He is also an associate editor of Avian Pathology and has been research avian influenza since 1987.[CR-LF][CR-LF]Before joining the USDA in 2994, Dr. Swayne was a staff member in the College of Veterinary Medicine at Ohio State University. He was an editor of the journal Avian Diseases and the textbook ?Diseases of Poultry.? He previously traveled to Thailand, Vietnam, China, and South Korea to attempt to control avian flu.[CR-LF][CR-LF]He is a former Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists and former Diplomate of the American College of Poultry Veterinarians. He is a past president of the American College of Poultry Veterinarians and former board member of American Association of Avian Pathologists.[CR-LF][CR-LF]Dr. Swayne graduated from the University of Arkansas with a bachelor?s degree in domestic animal biology, from the University of Missouri with a master?s degree in veterinary pathology and from the University of Georgia with a doctorate in veterinary pathology.
