Cheryl Parker has worked for television stations in Lansing, Grand Rapids, and South Bend, Mich. She joined FOX-59 in August of 1994. [CR-LF][CR-LF]She is the vice-president of the Indianapolis Association of Black Journalists. Parker has received five Emmy nominations, as well as recognition from the Associated Press and the Society for Professional Journalists. She was awarded a fellowship with the Casey Journalism Center for Children and Families at the University of Maryland in 1997. Parker was given the Outstanding Journalist Award from Lutheran Child and Family Services. [CR-LF][CR-LF]Parker serves on the boards of the Family Service Association and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society-Indiana Chapter. She also enjoys being a mentor to high school and college students with an interest in broadcast journalism. Her segment, 'The Parent Place', received two national awards from the Community Action Network in New York City. [CR-LF][CR-LF]Parker is a graduate of the Marquette University's College of Journalism.
