Gretchen Wirtz is a daybreak co-anchor and weather for WHOI-TV and covers the local news and meteorology. Wirtz has been a member of the WHOI-TV 19 First Warn Weather Team since January 2001. [CR-LF][CR-LF]She began her career in Rapid City, S.D., where, she did weather and reported for KNBN-TV Newscenter 1. One year later, Wirtz returned to the Midwest to Lansing, Mich., where she was the weekend anchor and weatherperson for FOX-47 News. [CR-LF].[CR-LF]One of her biggest career highlights was her one-on-one interview with former Vice President Al Gore, one week before the November 2000 election. She attended Illinois State University.
