Phil Ponce is the host of "Chicago Tonight" and managing editor for WTTW-TV. He began his career in journalism over 20 years ago. Ponce began working at WTTW-TV in 1992 as a correspondent for Chicago Tonight and as primary substitute for long-time host John Callaway. In 1997, he was tapped by Jim Lehrer to serve as national correspondent for the Washington, D.C.-based, "NewsHour with Jim Lehrer". Two years later, he returned to Chicago to take over the Chicago Tonight anchor chair. Ponce worked at WBBM-TV in 1982. [CR-LF][CR-LF]Ponce grew up in neighboring East Chicago, Ind. He and his wife live in Chicago with their three children.[CR-LF][CR-LF]Ponce holds an undergraduate degree in English from Indiana University and a juris doctorate degree from the University of Michigan.
