Previously she worked as an assistant editor with Business
Standard newspaper. She writes on issues related to economy, finance, public
policy and the environment. In 2019, her reporting from the deltaic region of
Sundarbans won the C R Irani Award for Environment Reporting (instituted by one
of the oldest newspapers in India, The Statesman), and was also shortlisted for
the Kurt Schork Memorial Fund award. She was also a recipient of the World
Press Institute fellowship, USA in 2011 and the Media Ambassador India-Germany
