Mr. Kovacs was previously news managing editor for The Times-Picayune and covers international, local, national and regional news. He attended Brown University, graduating in 1978. Kovacs has served as chair for the Freedom of Information Committee of the Associated Press Managing Editors. He also served as a juror of the 2003 Pulitzer Prize for breaking news reporting and the 2002 Pulitzer Prize for explanatory reporting.
