Mr. Hughes Verified

Joe Hughes anchors sports for KIVI-TV at 5, 6 and 10 p.m. He is also the sports director, since 2000, making him the longest tenured TV sports director in the Treasure Valley. His sports reports can be heard weekday mornings on radio station J105 at 7:30 and 8:30 a.m. [CR-LF][CR-LF]Previously, he was worked in Bend, Ore. where he started his career in television broadcasting. [CR-LF][CR-LF]In high school, he was an All-state football player who helped lead the team to three state 1A titles. He also played basketball and ran track for the ?Lumberjacks.' After graduation, he attended the University of Idaho, getting his degree in journalism with an emphasis on television broadcasting. [CR-LF][CR-LF]While attending college, he met his wife, Leslie. They were married on Thanksgiving weekend during his senior year. She is the Head Volleyball Coach at Nampa Christian School.[CR-LF][CR-LF]In his spare time, he enjoys skiing in the winter and camping around the state in the summer time with his three children. He also plays piano for church services and is the Co-Commander with his wife for the AWANA Bible club at their church each Sunday evening.
