David William Foster, an editor of the Chasqui, is a chairperson of the Department of Languages and Literatures and a Regents' Professor of Spanish, women's studies and interdisciplinary humanities at Arizona State University. Foster held the position of professor, visiting professor and assistant professor at many universities such as, Arizona State University, Vanderbilt University, University of Missouri, University of California at Los Angeles and University of Washington. His research interests focus on urban culture in Latin America, with an emphasis on issues of gender construction and sexual identity. He is a member on the editorial boards of Rocky Mountain Review, Torre de papel, Escena latinoamericana, Revista de estudios colombianos, and Revista monografica. He is also a past member on the editorial boards of Hispania, Latin American Literary Review, Latin American Research Review and Nueva narrativa hispanoamericana. Mr. Foster holds a B.A. in Spanish from the University of Washington, an M.A. in Spanish and romance linguistics from the University of Washington, and a Ph.D. in romance languages and Literature from the University of Washington.
