Prior to his work as Bureau Chief, Dennis Byrd worked as editor for three daily newspapers: the News-Times in El Dorado, Ark.; the Texarkana Gazette in Texarkana, Texas; and The Benton Courier in Benton, Ark. He later joined Donrey Media Group -- the predecessor of Stephens Media Group -- in 1996, after nine years with The Associated Press in Little Rock. While working with the Associated Press, Byrd covered the Arkansas Legislature, which has proved valuable experience as chief of the bureau. [CR-LF][CR-LF]Byrd was born in Little Rock, graduating from high school at El Dorado and from college at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia. Byrd and his wife, Linda, have two children, Dennis Jr. and Roxie, and two grandsons, Gunner Hopman and Branden Byrd.
