Marion Brooks joined WMAQ-TV in 1998 as co-anchor of the weekend newscasts. [CR-LF][CR-LF]She came to NBC5 from WSB-TV in Atlanta, Ga., where she had been an anchor and reporter. Brooks also worked as a weekend anchor and general assignment reporter for KTVI-TV in St. Louis, Mo. From 1991 to 1993, Brooks worked as a general assignment reporter and morning anchor at WJKS-TV in Jacksonville, Fla. She began her television career at WABG-TV in Greenville, Miss., as weekend anchor and, later, weekday anchor.[CR-LF][CR-LF]Her honors include two Chicago Midwest Emmys, a regional Edward R. Murrow Award and an AP investigative reporting award. Her work was recognized by the Chicago Association of Black Journalists and the National Mental Health Association.[CR-LF][CR-LF]She is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists. [CR-LF][CR-LF]Brooks is a native of Vancouver, British Columbia, and was raised in Portland, Ore. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Spelman College.
