Taslin Alfonzo is a weekend anchor for News 6 This Morning.[CR-LF][CR-LF]She joined WDSU-TV in August 2006 as a reporter. Before coming to New Orleans, she was at KRIV-TV in Houston, where she was a morning/noon co-anchor and reporter. While there, she co-anchored the station's news coverage of such major events as Operation Iraqi Freedom; the first Enron fraud trial; and the capture of Saddam Hussein. A fluent Spanish speaker, she was able to co-anchor the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks in a one-hour special in Spanish for KRIV-TV. Alfonzo has won an Emmy Award, and the National Academy of Television?s Lone Star Chapter chose her as the top news anchor in Texas for 2004. She is a member of the National Television Academy and the National Association of Hispanic Journalists. She grew up in Jefferson Parish, La., and attended Columbia University?s Graduate School of Journalism. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, reading, working out and dancing salsa and merengue.
