The Empire State Building today announced the return of its unique white lights to the silhouette of New York City , to celebrate the first day of New York City's reopening .

Since March 30, the Empire State Building's characteristic white lights have been replaced overnight by the "Pandemic Siren" and the " New York Heartbeat " of the building. There were also hourly illuminations to honor and inspire New York City rescuers , the #HeroesShineBright campaign, music and light shows with Alicia Keys and the Beatles, in partnership with iHeartRadio, in addition to fundraising in a special video clip on YouTube, in partnership with the Robin Hood Foundation , with Billy Joel and presentation by Governor Cuomo.

With media coverage around the world, the Empire State Building's lighting has become a guide to remind us that we're all in this together.

"In the United States, India, Australia and China only, the Empire State Building lights during the pandemic battle generated more than 33 billion impressions," said Anthony E. Chief Executive and Chairman of the Empire State Realty Trust . Malkin . "The Empire State Building is the authentic representation of New York City and the state of New York to the world."

He added: "We celebrate with New Yorkers the personal commitments of all first responders and the battleground leadership of New York State and New York City officials , which have taken us to the point where the city can get back to work. We look forward to sharing New York with the city's inhabitants, with the nation and with the world, when we reopen our world-famous Observatory. "

The building shines in its characteristic white lights on nights when lighting for an organization or a holiday is not scheduled. Until the COVID-19 pandemic is over, the sparkling five-minute tribute to the Empire State Building, every hour, to rescuers still on the front lines, as well as the five minutes of darkness in memory of those who lost their lives, who if it is after 9 pm, they will continue. For more information on the building's lights, visit the lighting calendar on  the Empire State Building website , where there is a full schedule.
