Kevin Willis is the assistant news director for WKYU-FM, Western Kentucky University's campus station. He is also the co-anchor for the Midday Edition news report for the station and can be heard on the air weekdays from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. [CR-LF][CR-LF]In the statewide Associated Press broadcast competition in 2004, the Midday Edition was named Best Newscast, and Willis came in first for Best Sports Reporting for a preview of the 2003 Western Kentucky University Hilltopper football season. For the 2006 Associated Press Wards, Willis won first place for Best Public Service Reporting, for "The Effects of Workout Supplements". This report detailed the growing popularity of over-the-counter muscle building supplements. He also won Best Feature for "Hurricane Evacuees in Elizabethtown", where Willis went to Hardin County to meet Gulf Coast evacuees who were relocated to the area following hurricanes Katrina and Rita. He also tied for first place for Best Series/Documentary Kevin Willis for his report, "Saddam on Trial". Lastly, he won first place for Best Use of Sound for "Communication with Iraq".
