Andy Weingarten started his broadcast career in the heart of Tornado Alley spending two years in St. Joseph, Missouri and 11 years in Topeka, Kansas before returning to Louisville in 1997 as the weekend meteorologist at WHAS. Weingarten left the broadcast industry in 2002 to try his hand as a meteorologist in the energy industry. From there, he built his own weather consulting firm that includes as clients two Fortune 500 companies and a power broker firm in Norway. Weingarten was born and raised in Louisville. When he is not working, he is an avid college sports fan of both the University of Kentucky and U of L. He is also an avid golfer. He has been married to his wife, Lee Ann, for 21 years and has two daughters, Jennifer and Katie. Weingarten is a graduate of Ballard High School. His interest in meteorology was cemented after the April 3, 1974 super outbreak of tornadoes. From there, he went to the University of Oklahoma to attain a degree in meteorology.
