Mr. Trahan Verified

Ken Trahan is a host of Three Tailgaters on WGSO-AM. Trahan is a longtime sportscaster who has been Assistant Athletics Director for Media, Campus and Community Relations at the University of New Orleans since 2001. Trahan is responsible for all UNO broadcasts and broadcast deals, overseeing sports information and media relations and promoting Privateer athletics on campus and in the community. He previously served as either the radio or television Voice of the University of New Orleans Privateers from 1982 to 1994. He also spent eight seasons as the original play-by-play voice of the New Orleans Zephyrs, calling over 1,000 games on radio and TV. Trahan also served as the play-by-play voice of prep football for Cox Communications and WHNO-TV, the New Orleans Night, and as pre-season play-by-play voice of the New Orleans Saints for five seasons (1995-1999).[CR-LF][CR-LF]Trahan was selected to broadcast the 1996 and 1999 Triple-A All Star games, received the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame award for outstanding broadcasts of amateur football (2002), the inaugural Excellence in Media award from Airline Place Management (1999), and the National Broadcaster of the Year by the Professional Bowlers Association (1988). In all, Trahan has accumulated 42 different awards for Best Sportscasts, Best Sports Stories, and most outstanding play-by-play over a 28-year career. Trahan also hosts the Monte Towe television and radio shows and serves as Sports Director at WGSO-AM Biz Radio 990, hosting the award-winning Original Prep Football Report in addition to the Three Tailgaters Shows. Ken writes for the Kenner Star and Sports Extra publications and serves as General Manager and Chairman of the Board of the Saints Hall of Fame Museum in Kenner. Trahan is the founder and chairman of the annual Bowling Against Dystrophy event (20 years). A graduate of Archbishop Rummel and Loyola University, Trahan lives in Kenner, LA.
