Ms. Simendinger Verified

As White House correspondent of National Journal, Ms. Alexis Simendinger covers current affairs, politics, and the White House. Simendinger was named National Journal?s national correspondent in 2007, after covering the White House through the administrations of three presidents, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush. Before joining National Journal in 1997, Simendinger covered the White House for BNA, a private news and information publisher in Washington. In two decades of reporting about the executive branch, she has also written about Congress and the U.S. Supreme Court. Although Simendinger is a Washington, D.C., native, she began her journalism career in Tampa, Fla., with The Tampa Tribune, where she spent three years writing about everything from the Florida legislature, to serial killings, to disasters. She earned a master's degree in journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia and her bachelor's degree from New College in Sarasota, Fla. She has been a frequent guest on PBS's Washington Week, CNN, and other broadcast outlets discussing national affairs, politics, and the White House.
