Steve Sanders is currently a co-anchor for WGN News at Noon on WGN-TV. He began at the station in 1982 as a general assignment reporter. His television career started in 1970 as a studio floor director at WBRC-TV in Birmingham, Ala. His first on-air job was as a news anchor for WERC radio from 1973 to 1979. In 1979 he made the transition to TV as a reporter and weekend anchor at Birmingham's WVTM-TV.[CR-LF][CR-LF]While at WGN, Sanders has won numerous journalism awards. He has three Emmys, including one for investigative reporting in 1991. He also has an American Bar Association "Silver Gavel Award" and awards from the Chicago Bar Association and Associated Press for investigative reporting.
