As publisher and editor-in-chief of OffBeat, Jan Ramsey covers home audio and music. OffBeat Magazine is New Orleans' and Louisiana's Music Magazine, and one of the few music magazines nationwide with a regional focus. OffBeat presents Best of The Beat Music Awards every year to both musicians and music businesses alike, and publishes the Louisiana Music Directory, the annual Louisiana music bible. Ramsey has been a music industry activist in New Orleans since 1985, when she started the New Orleans Music & Entertainment Association. In 1987, she organized the city's first conference for music industry development and was the co-author of the first music economic impact study. She currently serves on the Chamber of Commerce's MetroVision economic development committee on music and the arts and has been active in providing educational activities and business opportunities for musicians throughout Louisiana.
