Dr. Nairne Verified

James S. Nairne, a professor of Psychological Services at Purdue University, is an associate editor for the Psychological Bulletin & Review. Nairne also serves as the consulting editor for Sage Publications and past associate editor of the Journal of Memory. [CR-LF][CR-LF]Nairne has served on the editorial boards of such publications as the Journal of Experimental Psychology; Learning, Memory & Cognition; and Memory. He was the recipient of the 2000 Excellence in Education Award from Purdue, as well as the Charles B. Murphy Award, the University's highest undergraduate teaching honor. [CR-LF][CR-LF]In 2003, Dr. Nairne was inducted into Purdue's Book of Great Teachers and was appointed a visiting fellow by the British Psychological Society. He developed an innovative approach to the teaching of psychology -- known throughout the profession as adaptive problem-solving -- which has become widely used across the country and is considered a model for improving relevance and retention of material in the classroom. He did his undergraduate training at the University of California at Berkeley and earned his doctorate in psychology from Yale University. His research specialty is the human memory.
