Mr. McLaughlin Verified

John McLaughlin is the chief Meteorologist for NewsChannel 8 evenings at KCCI-TV. He joined the news team in 1985. During his years at KCCI-TV, he was hosted ?John McLaughlin Outdoors,? a half-hour fishing show on KCCI-TV from 1988 to 1998. He is also a frequent contributor to ?Ultimate Outdoors on KCCI.? [CR-LF][CR-LF]McLaughlin was the past president of the 3000-member National Weather Association and served two terms as Chair of the American Meteorological Society's Board of Broadcast Meteorology. He was awarded the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association Seals of Approval. McLaughlin also obtained the recent Certified Broadcast Meteorologist designation by the AMS. He was chosen to receive the award for "Outstanding Service by a Broadcast Meteorologist" by the AMS and received "Member of the Year Award," "Broadcaster of the Year Award," "Publication Education Award," and the "Larry R. Johnson Special Award" from the NWA. [CR-LF][CR-LF]McLaughlin spends his time speaking to meteorological organizations, as well as local schools and community groups. He enjoys the outdoors and aviation.
