Fletcher Mackel is a sports anchor at WDSU-TV in New Orleans, La. He previously worked as a news reporter and sports anchor at the Alexandria NBC affiliate KALB-TV. Fletcher won two Associated Press awards for reporting. He lives in New Orleans. He has an identical twin brother, Travers, who is a news reporter for WDSU-TV.[CR-LF][CR-LF]He played baseball in high school and then in college for Joe Scheuermann and Don Moreau. He was Loyola's team captain in 1997. While in college, he interned at WDSU-TV and credits several current anchors, reporters and photographers with helping him return to Channel 6.[CR-LF][CR-LF]Fletcher was born and raised in Gentilly, La. He graduated from Loyola University with a degree in broadcast journalism and a minor in history.
