Mr. Garrigan Verified

Mike Garrigan is co-anchor with Nicole Vrsanky for the 5, 6 and 10 p.m. newscasts at WIFT-TV. [CR-LF][CR-LF]Garrigan has been in television since 1992. His career started behind the camera as a sports producer at WITI-TV in Milwaukee. He also spent time as a morning news producer for the weekend assignment desk at the station. His on-air experience started at Jones Intercable in Kenosha, Wis. He worked for nearly five years at WJFW-TV in Rhinelander, Wis., before coming to Rockford in 1999. He worked at WREX-TV, WROK radio, and served as media relations director and "voice" of the CBA's Rockford Lightning. He then spent three years as sports director at WIFR-TV before joining WIFT-TV in 2007. [CR-LF][CR-LF]Garrigan has run the Olympic Torch, covered NFC Championship Games, and conducted a one-on-one interview with Tiger Woods. He has won Illinois statewide awards from the Illinois Broadcasters Association and the Illinois High School Soccer Coaches Association. He also won a statewide award in Wisconsin for his profile of Brad Gasparri, a 10-year-old boy who died from Muscular Dystrophy. Born in San Gabriel, Calif., he grew up in Waukesha, Wis., and attended University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, where he majored in broadcast journalism. He enjoys spending as much time as possible with his family.
