Ms. Espeland Verified

Kristin Espeland came to WFPL in October of 2007. Prior to that, Espelan was a reporter and host at Wyoming Public Radio in Laramie, where she won two national Public Radio News Directors, Inc. (PRNDI) awards for the quality of her journalism.[CR-LF][CR-LF]In addition to her work at WPR, she has produced segments for Weekend America, and her work has been featured on National Public Radio, National Native News, the Nature Stories Podcast, Aspen Public Radio, the Northeast Public Radio, and Wyoming Public Television. She is a member of the Society for Environmental Journalists, and was a Knight Center Environmental Journalism fellow in 2006.[CR-LF][CR-LF]Espeland began her career in the corporate world as Director of Corporate Communications at the MONY Group in New York. She then attended the graduate program in journalism at Columbia University, where she won the school?s top radio prize, the John Patterson award. She received her B.A. in cultural anthropology from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon.[CR-LF][CR-LF]Kristin hails originally from Glen Ellyn, Illinois, but has since lived in San Francisco, Portland, Iowa City, Madrid, New York City, Laramie, and now Louisville.
