As WTHR?s Director of Community Affairs, Angela Cain oversees the station?s many community service projects, including "Bob Gregory?s Coats for Kids", the United Christmas Service campaign, and ?Shattering the Silence?, a campaign focusing on the issue of domestic abuse. She also hosts WTHR?s "Positively Indiana Community Calendar" and profiles people and community events in the daily "Focus" segments on Eyewitness News at Noon.[CR-LF][CR-LF]Angela?s 20-year broadcasting career includes a seven-year stint as an anchor/reporter at WRTV in Indianapolis. She left central Indiana in 1993 to become the 5 p.m. anchor at KXAS, the NBC affiliate in Dallas/Fort Worth. While in Dallas, she won awards for medical reporting and hosted a community affairs talk show.[CR-LF][CR-LF]Since joining WTHR-13, Angela and her Community Affairs staff have been honored with several awards including a regional emmy and an Indiana Broadcasters Association award for a series of PSA?s they created on the anniversary of 9-11; two Indiana Associated Press Awards for Best Community Service campaigns; an Indiana Broadcasters Association award for Outstanding Community Service for a station; and, in 2004, a national Gracie Allen Award from the American Women in Radio and Television for the ?Shattering the Silence? campaign.
