Robin Baumgarten joined WGN-TV Morning News in 1995 broadcasting traffic reports while still with Shadow Traffic. In 1996, she joined the broadcast team on the set. She was the solo anchor of the 5am WGN-TV Morning News since it launched in January of 2004. She has also served as WGN-TV Morning News traffic reporter from 5:30-9am and has filed many reports on transportation-related stories.[CR-LF][CR-LF]Prior to joining WGN-TV, Baumgarten worked in traffic and news reporting for Shadow Broadcast Services in Chicago from 1990-1996. During that time she worked as a traffic, news, and sports reporter for WLUP-FM Radio's Jonathan Brandmeier Show for five years and as a traffic reporter for CLTV-TV News in 1994. She also spent one year doing freelance work with ABC Sports in 1990.[CR-LF][CR-LF]In 2002, Baumgarten won an Emmy Award for her Outstanding Achievement for Individual Excellence on Camera. A lifelong Chicagoan, Baumgarten received a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana in 1990.
