Mrs. Bare Verified

Mrs. Micki Bare is a columnist for the Arkansas News Bureau covering business and local and federal government and politics.[CR-LF][CR-LF]Prior to her work as a columnist, Mrs. Bare worked in newspaper and radio. Mrs. Bare began her professional career, writing for a combination radio station-newspaper in Barnwell, S.C. She also wrote feature articles for the Banner, produced and co-hosted a morning radio show and sold ads for both.[CR-LF][CR-LF]Mrs. Bare then began working at the Asheboro's Courier-Tribune in January 2000 as a guest columnist. By August 2000 she had become a paid stringer with a weekly column appearing on Saturdays. In November 2002 she began sending her column to the Arkansas News Bureau for distribution to the Stephens Media Group newspapers. In May 2003, she also began a twice weekly radio program in Asheboro, called "Moments with Micki." Since 1994, she has also worked as Head Start director for a private, nonprofit human service agency. Although she continues to hold that position.[CR-LF][CR-LF]Mrs. Bare was introduced to journalism, working on the William G. Enloe High School's Eagle Eye. As a freshman at North Carolina State University, she reported the news on the University's radio station, and wrote for the Technician, the school paper. She graduated with a degree in speech communication. Mrs. Bare also worked as a teacher for a period of several years, until she moved back to journalism.[CR-LF][CR-LF]She recently published a book, "Relative Expressions." The book is a collection of stories and columns relating to the memories of her great-grandfather, an Italian immigrant. Mrs. Bare, her husband and three children reside in Asheboro.
