Tom Appleby has been a News Director of News 12 Connecticut Evening Edition since 1984, and is also an anchor for the station. Previously Appleby worked for WCBS-TV as an anchor. [CR-LF][CR-LF]Tom began his broadcasting career in Massachusetts at WGBY-TV before moving on to the Satellite News Channel. Prior to joining the broadcasting world, Appleby lectured at the City College of New York. [CR-LF][CR-LF]He has won 20 Cable ACE awards, 24 Associated Press awards, 11 United Press awards, and 15 awards from the Society of Professional Journalists. Moreover, he has won a New England Regional Emmy Award for investigative reporting. Appleby is a member of the Association of Regional News Channels and The Business Council of Fairfield County (SACIA).[CR-LF][CR-LF]Tom studied English literature at University of Michigan. where he earned his Ph.d. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Dartmouth College.
