Since the age of 15, Lee Zurick knew he wanted to cover sports news - even before he interned at WWL-TV. [CR-LF][CR-LF]An avid Saints fans, Zurick actually played on the gridiron with one of the NFL's premier players, Peyton Manning. "We played together at Newman. I was a senior during his sophomore year," says Zurik, who was an offensive lineman. "He owes his career to me. I protected him from all those hard charging linemen."[CR-LF][CR-LF]Zurick moved from playing on the field to reporting on those who did. He attended Syracuse's prestigious Newhouse School of Communications. While at Syracuse, Zurick did play-by-play work for the Orangemen's teams. After college, he quickly found work. His affable style made him a sports fan favorite at each of his stops. Zurick spent time in Greenville, Miss., Montgomery, Ala., and Baton Rouge before coming home. In addition to his passion for the hometown Saints, Zurick says he became a big Louisiana State University fan during his time in Baton Rouge.
