Mr. Michael Watts is the associate editor of economic institution for the Journal of Economic Education. [CR-LF][CR-LF]His scholarly studies appear in several of the leading research journals in economics, including American Economic Review: Papers and Proceedings, Economic Inquiry, Review of Economics and Statistics, the Southern Economic Journal, and the Eastern Economic Journal, as well as several education journals including Theory and Research in Social Education, Social Education and Theory Into Practice.[CR-LF][CR-LF]In 1992, he received the Henry H. Villard Research Award in economic education; in 1995 he received a special award for "Vision in Economic Education" from the Board and Staff of the National Council on Economic Education; in 2001 he received the first International Award from the National Council on Economic Education and the National Association of Economic Educators, and was appointed a Fellow of the Teaching Academy at Purdue University.[CR-LF][CR-LF]He studied economics at the Louisiana State University. He is a Professor of Economics and Director of the Center for Economic Education at Purdue University.
