Andrea Warren is a freelance writer based in Kansas City, KS who writes groundbreaking non-fiction books about history for young readers and about young people caught up in historical events. She says her challenge is to write books of non-fiction that are just as engaging as fiction.[CR-LF][CR-LF]Warren's writing career has spanned most of her adult life. In high school and college, she wrote newspaper articles and columns. She graduated from the University of Nebraska with a Master's degree in British Literature and wrote her first stories for publication while teaching high school English and History in Hastings, Nebraska. She completed another Master's degree in Magazine Journalism at the University of Kansas and after briefly editing a magazine and working as a newspaper reporter, began her career as a freelance writer, contributing to many major magazines and starting work on her first books. She has appeared at the Truman Presidential Library, the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, and at several dozen schools, libraries, and universities across the country.
