Mr. Shope Verified

KAKE Sports Director Alan Shope began his television career as a videotape editor/photographer at KSNW-TV in Wichita, Kan. He got his first on-air job at KSNT-TV in Topeka where he worked as a news reporter, sports reporter, outdoor sports reporter and ag reporter. [CR-LF][CR-LF]Winning numerous awards in Topeka got him noticed by KSHB-TV in Kansas City, where Shope worked for seven years, winning more awards and was twice nominated for an Emmy. When he had the opportunity to move back to his hometown of Wichita, Kan., he jumped on it. [CR-LF][CR-LF]In his spare time, Alan enjoys playing golf and basketball, and acting as crew chief for his son?s KAKE #10 racing go-kart. Alan also collects AFX slot cars, with nearly 500 in his collection.[CR-LF][CR-LF]Not all of Alan?s hobbies are sports-related.
