Al Pell combines careers as a working farmer and farm broadcaster. He began his professional career with the Cooperative Extension Service. During his 21-year career with Extension, Pell was honored with the USDA Superior Service Award for innovative programming. He then shifted to broadcasting, working as Farm Service Director for WIBC radio in Indianapolis. In 1989 he moved from radio to television, taking over as anchor of AgDay. He still does a daily early morning radio show and was featured on National Public Radio in a series dealing with farm bill debate. He is active in farm organizations, serving the maximum term on the Marion Country Fair Board, as president. He is currently a member of the National Association of Farm Broadcasters and the National Agri-Marketers Association. Pell graduated from Purdue University with a degree in agriculture.
