As editor, photographer and publisher of the Waterbury Observer since 1993, John Murray covers regional and local news. Previously Murray worked for the Litchfield Enquirer and Register-Citizen as a reporter. Murray studied at University of Connecticut. He offers a course on photojournalism at the University of Connecticut's Waterbury campus. He has won first place awards from the New England Press Association for best serious columnist and for feature writing, and an Associated Press award for feature photography. His work has appeared in the Hartford Courant, Connecticut Magazine, Sports Illustrated and the New York Times.
