Mr. Maxon Verified

Bob Maxon is currently the weekday morning meteorologist for WVIT-TV. He began his career at NBC 30 in August 1995.[CR-LF][CR-LF]In 1987, Maxon worked for Cable News Center 7 in Ithaca, N.Y., before making the transition to Binghamton, N.Y., to work at WMGC-TV in 1988. Between 1989 and 1995, he gained most of his experience working for WMUR-TV in Manchester, N.H. [CR-LF][CR-LF]The American Meteorological Society recognizes Mr. Maxon as a certified meteorologist. During his tenure as a professional meteorologist, Maxon covered many of the major storms that struck the Northeast including Hurricane Bob in 1991, the Great Winter Storm of '93, and the Blizzard of '96. [CR-LF][CR-LF]He volunteers for many state-wide charities and sits on the planning board for the Brain Injury Association of Connecticut's annual golf tournament. Maxon also serves as the Master of Ceremony for the Jamie Tillona Memorial Golf Tournament each summer. He also plays in the Connecticut Junior Republic, Connecticut Special Olympics and many other local golf tournaments. [CR-LF][CR-LF]Mr. Maxon lives in West Simsbury, Conn., with his wife, daughter, and their beagle. He is an avid golfer and skier.[CR-LF][CR-LF]He grew up in Oswego, N.Y., and graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Science degree in meteorology.
