Tom LaMarra is news editor for The Blood-Horse and covers horses. He attended Rutgers University. LaMarra began his journalism career in 1987 and worked at several newspapers in New Jersey and Pennsylvania before accepting a position with the Daily Racing Form in 1993. LaMarra became news editor of the Thoroughbred Times in 1997, before becoming the news editor of The Blood-Horse in 1998. The Blood-Horse is the leading international weekly Thoroughbred racing and breeding news and information magazine and is published by The Blood-Horse, Inc. In 2001, LaMarra was awarded the David F. Woods Memorial Award at the annual Alibi Breakfast at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland. The David F. Woods Award is given annually by Pimlico Race Course to the writer of the best story covering the Preakness Stakes. LaMarra received the award for his profile story of trainer Joe Orseno, who trained Red Bullet, winner of the 2000 Preakness.
