Mr. Kovner Verified

Josh Kovner is a reporter for the Middletown bureau of the Hartford Courant. He covers a wide range of local news topics including government and politics, crime, community development and animal rights issues. He also teaches journalism classes at Gateway Community College and Southern Connecticut State University.[CR-LF][CR-LF]Mr. Kovner prefers to receive relevant press releases and story ideas via e-mail and accepts high-resolution photos and attachments.[CR-LF][CR-LF]Mr. Kovner has been covering news and pursuing enterprise stories out of the Courant's Middletown bureau for the past ten years. Before joining the Courant, he has worked for the New Haven Register, Bristol Press and the Rockland Review. He was part of a team of Courant reporters that won the Pulitzer Prize in 1999 for coverage of the Matthew Beck Lottery shootings in Newington. In 1999, 2003 and 2006, he was recognized by the Connecticut Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists. Again in 2006, Mr. Kovner won a New England Associated Press News Executives Association writing award. He is also a second place winner of a 2008 Charles Dudley Warner award. He graduated with a B.A. in Journalism from Temple University.
