Satoshi Kawata is a Professor of Applied Physics at the Graduate School of Engineering of Osaka University. He is a Chief Scientist at the Nanophotonics Laboratory of the Institute of Physical and Chemical Research (RIKEN). He has also served as a Project Leader for CREST (Core research for Evolution Science and Technology) Nonlinear Nanophotonics Project of the Japan Science and Technology Agency. He held Advisory chairs at Max Planck Society, Erlangen Modern Optics Center, was Organizing Chairman of the Optoelectronic Industry and Technology Development Association (OITDA), and was Vice Manager of the Optical Society of Japan.
