James Hess was an editor of the Marketing Newsletter Magazine, and an area editor of Marketing Science Magazine. Hess was a professor at College of Business, a tenured faculty member of the University of Illinois. He has been a visiting scholar at both MIT and the University of California-Berkeley, as well as a visiting professor at Washington University at St. Louis. He served as a full professor at North Carolina State University. Hess was a president of INFORMSs Society on Marketing Science from 2000-2002, and is currently on the advisory board. He holds a Ph.D. degree in economics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a bachelors degree in economics and electrical engineering from Princeton University.
