Mike Hartnett has worked at WAVE-TV 3 since 1988. He started on a part-time basis and was promoted to full-time status as the weekend sports announcer in March 1996. He has also worked as a self-employed TV producer and sports anchor. Prior to coming to the station, Mr. Hartnett worked as the sports director and anchor for WRKA Radio and WLKY-TV in Louisville. In addition, Mr. Hartnett has worked for ESPN as a reporter for a weekly horseracing program and was the producer of several similar programs while working in Lexington.[CR-LF][CR-LF]In 1992, he was honored with the Metro Louisville Journalism Award. Mr. Hartnett is married and has three children. He graduated from Western Kentucky University with a bachelor's degree in mass communication.
