Darryl Gates is also the vice president of communications for Alabama Living. In addition, he is the vice president of Montgomery area offices of Tombigbee Electrical Cooperative's Electrical Cooperative (TEC), where he offers advice to improve TEC's presence in the magazine. Before his current position, Mr. Gates was city editor of the (Montgomery) Alabama Journal and a reporter and columnist for the Montgomery Advertiser. He began his career as editor of The (Millbrook) Community Press.[CR-LF][CR-LF]Mr. Gates was a judge for the 2005 South Carolina Magazine Local Cooperative News Awards. He has also written articles for the Alabama Rural Electric Association. Mr. Gates won a Gold Award from the Montgomery Association of Business Communicators in 2002 for his work with Alabama Living. [CR-LF][CR-LF]Mr. Gates holds a bachelor's of arts in communications from Auburn University at Montgomery, and has done graduate study in business administration and recreation resources management.
