Colleen Fay, formerly known as Peter Fay, changed genders in November of 2007. Fay is an arts panelist for "Around Town," having joined the television program on WETA-TV in 1986. She is also the arts editor for WAMU FM's "Metro Connection," a weekly radio program covering local events. Fay has more than 20 years experience as the former head librarian of the Performing Arts Library of the Library of Congress at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.[CR-LF][CR-LF]Fay has written regularly for Washington National Opera Magazine, Washington Review and WETA magazine. Her program notes are featured in Stagebill. She has written on subjects as diverse as Mozart operas and jazz. She lectures on the music of Bach, Monteverdi and Mendelssohn and on the subject of criticism itself at Mount Vernon College, The Folger Library, George Mason University, the Corcoran Gallery of Art, the National Cathedral and at the performances of the Alexandria Symphony. Fay has also lectured before The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts concerts and served as guest host of their daytime interview series.[CR-LF][CR-LF]As a singer, Fay has appeared with the Washington National Opera, the Wolf Trap Opera and the Summer Opera Theatre. She is a national board member of The American Composers Forum and the past president of the Washington Area Performing Arts Video Archive.
