As producer of Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me! on National Public Radio since late 2000, Mike Danforth's responsibilities include booking celebrity guests, finding amusing news stories in the far corners of the Internet, coming up with new ideas for the show and editing the program. He also assists Philipp Goedicke in writing the show's limericks and coaches Carl Kasell on his impressions. [CR-LF][CR-LF]Mr. Danforth once researched jokes for "A Prairie Home Companion," for which he worked as an associate producer. He also taught in Slovakia. He battles Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML), an ailment that he handles with the support and help of friends and family.[CR-LF][CR-LF]He is a graduate of Luther College, where he met his wife, Eva Neilsen. Together, they have a son, Aksel Neilsen Danforth, born on Sept. 8, 2004.
