Kevin Cooney is the anchor of the 6 and 10 p.m. shows for KCCI-TV. He has been the anchor of the evening and nightly news since 1982. Mr. Cooney first worked at KCCI-TV in the sports production department when he was 16. He became a sports reporter for the station in 1972 and has worked in the news department since graduating from Iowa State University in 1974. [CR-LF][CR-LF]Cooney received the James Schwartz Award for Distinguished Service to Journalism from Iowa State University in 1994 and the Jack Shelley Award from the Iowa Broadcast News Association in 1999. He serves on the board of advisors for the Greenlee School of Journalism and Communication at Iowa State University.
