Peter Canellos is the Washington D.C. bureau chief for the Boston Globe, as well as the assistant managing editor. He writes the National Perspective column, in which he analyzes the week's events in the capital and beyond.[CR-LF][CR-LF]On August 3, 2009, he will become the editorial page editor of the paper, where he will oversee the editorial board, op-ed columnists, letters to the editor, and commentart sections for both print and online. He will also have responsibility for the Sunday Globe's Ideas section.[CR-LF][CR-LF]He has been with the paper since 1988. He has worked as the city hall bureau chief, metro editor, and has participated in coverage of four presidential elections. Mr. Canellos is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and holds a law degree from Columbia University.
