Joan Barrett was previously the news director at KWCH-TV 12 before becoming the Vice-President/General Manager. In addition she was the Vice President of News at KPNX-TV. She is also the President of Sunflower Broadcasting Inc. Sunflower operates four television stations: KWCH, KBSL, KBSH and KBSD; as well as two digital channels and KWCH.com. Barrett was named General Manager in October of 2003. [CR-LF][CR-LF]Past jobs include being a producer, reporter and anchor at stations in: Lubbock, Texas; Topeka, Kan., and Austin, Texas. Before coming to KWCH, Barrett worked as a consultant and trainer for "The Broadcast Image Group." Under her direction, the KWCH-TV 12 news team won two prestigious national Edward R. Murrow Awards. She was also awarded the prestigious Gannett Broadcasting "Award of Excellence." Barrett is a graduate of Kansas State University. She now resides in Wichita, Kan., with her husband, two sons, and two dogs.
