Michael Akers, editor in chief of Pharmaceutical Development and Technology,is director of pharmaceutical reserach and development for Baxter Pharmaceutical Solutions. LLC. Prior to joining Baxter, he was a consultant to the pharmaceutical industry in the areas of sterile product science and technology. He earned a Ph.D. degree in pharmaceutics from the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy. he joined Eli Lilly and Company where He worked for 17 years at Eli Lilly in pharmaceutical product development, quality control, and quality assurance. Dr. Akers has adjunct professor appointments at five schools of pharmacy.
