Senator Sherwin Gatchalian on Wednesday, January 6, said a hacker was able to buy P1 million worth of food using his credit card.
“My credit card has just been hacked! May nag-order ng P 1M worth of food via Foodpanda in less than an hour. Ano ‘yan, lauriat para sa buong barangay???” Gatchalian tweeted.
(My credit card has just been hacked! Somebody ordered P1 million worth of food using Foodpanda in less than an hour. What’s that for, lauriat for an entire barangay?)
He shared a screenshot showing 3 transactions amounting to over P300,000 each and one transaction amounting to almost P100,000.
Gatchalian, who is vice chairperson of the Senate committee on banks and financial institutions and Senate committee on economic affairs, also said the hacker was able to change the registered phone number where one-time passwords are sent.
“He knew what he was doing. I just don’t know how he will eat a million [pesos] worth of food,” the senator said.
