Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is trying to help Texas residents in need. As the state grapples with a winter storm that has left millions without power, Prescott donated to an organization that helps feed the homeless in Dallas.
The organization — named OurCalling — posted about Prescott’s donation. Prescott and actor Matthew McConaughey, who was born in Texas, both donated to help OurCalling.
Prescott was born in Louisiana, but has lived in Texas since he was drafted by the Cowboys in the 2016 NFL draft. He shared that post on both Instagram and Twitter to raise support for the cause.
Prescott was limited to just 5 games last season after suffering a gruesome ankle injury. Prescott had surgery to repair the issue, and should be ready for the start of the 2021 NFL season. Prescott is seeking a long-term deal with the Cowboys, but the team has the option to place the franchise tag on Prescott for the 2021 season.
Deshaun Watson donates to Houston police
Prescott isn’t the only professional quarterback in Texas making donations. Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson donated meals to help feed Houston police officers, according to the Houston Chronicle. The food was provided from Lefty’s Cheesesteak. Watson is an owner of a Lefty’s Cheesesteak franchise in Houston.
Watson’s donation comes as the quarterback is looking to leave town. Watson reportedly requested a trade from the Texans in January. The team has repeatedly said it would not trade Watson, potentially creating a standoff if Watson is still on the team when training camp begins.
