Kaycie Surrell is a Creative Professional based in New Orleans, Louisiana, United States

Kaycie Surrell earned her BA from Missouri State University where she studied English and creative writing while working as a writer for The Standard - the university's student-lead newspaper. She returned to Missouri State University for her MA in English. As a graduate student she held a position as the Assistant Director of Marketing for Missouri State University's Theatre & Dance Department. She was also the Operations Manager for the Theatre & Dance Department's beloved summer theatre series, Tent Theatre. Tent Theatre has been a staple in the theatre community since 1963 and boasts a rich history of alumni cast like John Goodman, Kathleen Turner, and Jannie Jones to name a few.

Kaycie was accepted into the Americorps VISTA program during her final year of graduate school and attended Americorps training in Phoenix, AZ in August 2016. She was placed with Springfield Community Gardens in Springfield, MO where she enjoyed working with a dedicated team of farmers and community activists toward the growth and development of a multi-garden network.

In 2017 Kaycie was accepted by the School of the Art Institute of Chicago's MFA Writing Program and relocated to Chicago. As a graduate student in the SAIC writing program she worked as an Editorial Assistant for SAIC magazine, as a teaching assistant, and was selected to be a First Year Seminar Instructor during her third semester. In her second year at SAIC she accepted a year-long position as the Entertainment Editor for F Newsmagazine and began an internship with the Millennium Park Foundation.

In May 2019, Kaycie accepted a position with the Millennium Park Foundation as their Curation and Community Engagement Manager. She enjoyed working with local artists Edra Soto and Christine Tarkowski to share their site-specific installations with the city of Chicago. She is most proud of her work with Luftwerk to bring their installation Requiem: A White Wanderer to the Pritzker Pavilion and Millennium Park in January 2020.

Kaycie also enjoys work as a freelance digital coordinator and copywriter, and when she's not working she enjoys writing, painting, and hanging out with animals.
