Michael P. Weinfeld is Senior Entertainment Editor for Associated Press (AP) Radio News. Based in Washington, DC, Mr. Weinfeld coordinates entertainment coverage for AP Network News and the AP Broadcast Wire. His duties include writing, anchoring and producing daily entertainment features and the Entertainment Report. Weinfeld joined AP as a Broadcast Writer in New York in October 1981 and transferred to Washington when the Broadcast Wire merged with the Radio Network in 1983. He has served as Entertainment Editor since 1987 and has interviewed some of Hollywood's biggest stars. During his tenure at AP, Weinfeld has variously been Anchor, General Assignment Reporter, Producer, Supervisor, National Editor and Writer. He has also dabbled outside the realm of entertainment while working on business, sports and agriculture reports. Before joining AP, Weinfeld was News Director for WMMM/WDJF in Westport; a News Anchor at WPOP-AM 1410 in Hartford, and News Director at WINY-AM 1350 in Putnam, CT. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism from New York University and is a recipient of the 2001 Gramling Journalism Award.
